چکیده

: Muscle weakness and wasting is increasingly recognized as a problem in children admitted to the pediatric intensive care unit (PICU). could potentially affect child’s function development, imposing burden on child their families. We aimed summarize literature muscle critically ill children, discuss methods measure changes well areas for future research. Intensive has been reported through numerous case reports cohort study. These papers demonstrated that can be persistent with reduced strength even after hospital discharge. A prevalence of approximately 2% lower than adults. This may related an under-detection identification challenging. Some have used assess include arm circumference derived from triceps skinfold thickness upper-arm circumference, ultrasound-derived limb diaphragm size, lean body mass bioelectrical impedance analysis. Using these methods, various patterns including increase, decrease no change muscle. However, studies not explored relationship between function. Evidence suggests there heterogeneity experience. Future research need consider differences age, illness severity composition interpreting size children. Importantly, understanding role nutrition physical rehabilitation relation important direction optimizing long-term outcomes
